Friday 31st July (2:00am GMT) Talk about a slow week, well anyway if you are wondering why your favorate pheared.com site isn't working. Don't worry the server is down for servicing and should be back soon enough.
Friday 24th July (12:00pm GMT) Sorry for the long delay in updates but I've only just come back from a holiday. Expect the usual updates from now on.
Sunday 12th July (1:30am GMT) Paradigm has finally launched their new webpage, www.pdmworld.com. Now it is more then just a coming soon logo.
Wednesday 8th July (10:30pm GMT) Hybrid the kings of soccer related releases has decided to bless us with their first and probably only release for this quarter. Premier Manager 98 (c) Gremlin Interactive. Well we knew someone would eventually have do to it. RC had to go and release a raped version of Final Fantasy 7, but alas it's still too big. Then to follow this, a group called Rough also released a dupe of the nuked FF7. If that wasn't enough they then followed it up with a separate Music and Sound addon, looks like they where trying to do an old Paradigm trick to me. It seems TKLP and some other Divine members where not too happy with a some of the bad titles DVN seems to dish out. So TKLP in his divine wisdom has unfortunately reformed Reflux, a bold move in my opinion to out crap DVN at crap releases. Reflux has already gotten off to a great start with their first release being shareware.
Divine are obviously not to happy with this split. Here is what they say in their newest release NFO file which ironically is a fix for a Reflux release no less. ÃÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄij ³ ³ ³ Game Notes ³ ³ ~~~~~~~~~~ ³ ³ Yes, Reflux is back! After we all celebrated the day the most lame group ³ ³ ever decided to part from the scene, they decided to come back. And one ³ ³ of their first releases stands up to their normal quality. Looks like ³ ³ they managed to find the one cracker in the world who doesn't know shit ³ ³ about rerouting. ³ ³ As this reflux release got paid for with Divine funds (yes, it's shocking³ ³ but true), we felt we needed to give the public this fix to take care of ³ ³ that. ³ ³ ³ ³ Just unzip into whatever dir you installed EK and run patch.exe. Now you ³ ³ don't need those lame 0-byte files anymore and the game will run in any ³ ³ directory. ³ ³ Merlin 07.08.98 ³ ³ ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ
Tuesday 7th July (9:20pm GMT) Class have admitted releasing a beta version of Rampage World Tour and has subsequently released the store version. Here is what they have to say in their CLASS.NFO.
º Additional Info: º º Okay, so Class screwed up. We admit it (see moonlord, we do admit these º º things). While their are differences in the .EXE, their are hardly any º º other differences found. What is really REALLY fucked up is that EVEN IN º º THE STORE FINAL, in the ABOUT section it says beta. Why Midway did this, isº º beyond our reasoning, and its not our fault. You should bitch at Midway forº º misleading gamers in thinking they are getting a beta version when they areº º in fact playing the final version. If you don't believe me that in fact º º WHAT YOU'RE GETTING IS THE STORE FINAL, then go to your favorite retail º º chain, pick up the game and check it out for yourself (Look for the black º º box with a picture of the characters of Rampage on the front. Everything º º from the back of the box has been copied into this nfo). The reason why we º º we didn't do a final patch is because it was nuked on most sites and it'd º º be best to give the entire game to the scene. A directory listing of the º º final cd BEFORE installation is included in the zip files. BTW: A directoryº º listing of both of our releases can be found in the game. º
Friday 4th July (9:00pm GMT) I was a bit slow picking up on this. Motiv8 the group with the reputation of being a scene bootcamp for couriers was reformed last month (29th). It seems it has the approval of Mason too.
Wednesday 1st July (6:25pm GMT) Class's release of of Rampage World Tour (45 disks) is a beta. If you goto the About menu it says "COMPILED: 03-09-98, 16:15:54 (Beta)". I wondered what happened to Class's quality control?
Monday 29th June (3:50pm GMT) A new virus named Win95.CIH.1019 with it's origins from Tiawan has plagued the warez scene, infecting some major releases. The following below is a extract from a divine.nfo being offered by a bot in their channel.
³ Virus Notes ³ ³ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ³ ³ Well it happened. A Virus. Slid through all you Smart Asses ³ ³ McAffee (tm) and Norton (tm) Scanners. Well here is the Solution ³ ³ ³ ³ You need to download AntiViral Tools Pro version 3.0 Build 119 from ³ ³ www.avp.ch. (Get and install BOTH DOS and WIN Versions Then get ³ ³ the update from www.avp.ch/E/updates.htm. Once Installed ³ ³ Shut down into MSDOS Mode, and run AVPLITE.exe. Once ³ ³ you have cleaned the C drive, and all its contents ³ ³ You can load up windows, and run AVP in win9x ³ ³ to clean everything else on your box. You need to ³ ³ Unzip/Unrar/Unace, ALL files to check them. If you dont ³ ³ run the infected .exe, you will be fine. Here is a list of ³ ³ Known contaminated Releases. Others *ARE* Contaminated Please ³ ³ come into #Divine or your favorite group to tell us what you have found ³ ³ ³ ³ Mech.Commander-DVN <--- All .exe files. ³ ³ Mech.Commander.ZOOM-ADDON-DVN <--- Patch.exe ³ ³ Pinball Soccer Trainer - WARRIOR ³ ³ Ancient Evil Trainer - WARRIOR ³ ³ Mortal Kombat 4 Trainer - WARRIOR ³ ³ Mortal Kombat 4 Trainer - RAZOR ³ ³ Uninstall Manager - CORE ³ ³ N-Track Studio - CORE ³ ³ Chess Tree 1.2.1 Keymaker - CORE ³ ³ ³ ³ The Virus Copies itself inside blank parts of exe's, and can cause ³ ³ Windows to crash. Formating hard drives has been reported requirement, ³ ³ but not needed in all cases. Just a reminder, ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ This virus made a big show in Sweden for causing trouble, This was part ³ ³ of some utility in Taiwan. Bottom line. It was not deliberate and not ³ ³ a single thing could be done to prevent this. SORRY! ³ ³ ³ ³ At least we are trying to keep you informed. ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ ³ Thanks Bel for the start of this file. Also as a side note apparently the key Divine is offering will not work on the DOS version of AntiViral Pro. You should use the original key that came with the program. You will need to use the DOS version of the cleaner if your \windows .exe files have been infected. Because if the .exe files are in use while Windows is running they can not be cleaned. Saturday 27th June (6:00pm GMT) Mortal Kombat 4 was released by Paradigm. The scary thing is that is it only on nine disks. Takes you back to the old 1995 CD-rips :).
Tuesday 23rd June (2:30pm GMT) Insomnia the courier group officially called it quits today. (source: TCA)
Friday 19th June (3:05pm GMT) Slow news month this month, but you know the cliche. No news is good news, usually right for the scene. Anyway TheSystem/Razor 1911's new electronic magazine has been delayed until August due to some coding problems. Hetero had some problems with the win32 code and so he has been replaced with Strech.
Monday 15th June (12:05pm GMT) More bad news for the scene today. FOS a very popular site has been narced by people unknown. With all these narcings people must be thinking twice about couriers.
Monday 8th June (1:45pm GMT) The Game Review is finally back and fortunately it hasn't change one bit. Other then the fact Ionizer is now reviewing Win95 games. This link will forward you to TGR's page.
Monday 8th June (2:24am GMT) Well just my luck, I stay up till 2.30am (I’m Australian) to join in on the first ever SSA meeting. A lot of people where in the channel including myself waiting for the meeting get started when my ISP disconnects me. I’m left out in the cold due to a thunderstorm with no chance of reconnecting, I was anything but please. So if you want a detailed report on the event I suggest visiting Scenelink.
Wednesday 3rd June (8:00am GMT) Mpower one of the best if not the best sites in the world has been narced by Abraham. NOS was also narced on by some unknown persons. (source: Scenelink)
